What EVR, EVTR, ERT and ELT actually mean?

We’re sure you’ve heard all the terms — it's different how each state refers to electronic title and registration: EVR, EVTR, ERT, ELT, etc... They get tossed around in conversations about digital title and registration, faster deals and cutting down wait time at your dealership. But what do they actually mean — and more importantly, how do they impact and protect your dealership’s bottom line?

Let’s break it down for electronic title and registration:

• EVR (Electronic Vehicle Registration)
• EVTR (Electronic Vehicle Title and Registration)
• ERT (Electronic Registration and Titling)

While each of these acronyms has a slightly different definition, the bottom line is that they all mean the same thing — electronic vehicle title and registration managed through an online application (like Vitu!) that allows you to skip mailing paperwork and submit electronically straight to the state.
